Rings 19-27

I am loving the experience of making a ring a day, but I am not sure if I can continue on for an entire year. I love the creativity it is spurring. However, it is so challenging to find the time everyday to make a ring. But at this point I am going to continue on and take it one day at a time. I am going to challenge myself to set more stones and create rings beyond my comforts. It is amazing to me that just a few years ago I was leery of making rings, because of the time it took for me to make them. I am getting so much better at it...as with anything you do.

Last night after a nice dinner with my daughter, I drove around a little bit. She was getting sleepy so I thought she might fall asleep if I continued to drive. (she had a long day at school). I slowly drove along the Bay to see the beautiful full moon shining on the water and then through the neighborhood. I was inspired at every turn. A beautiful front door, a palm tree, a window...every where I looked I found inspiration for a Ring or a necklace...I was designing them in my head. Having only been in Florida a year, I am still discovering all it's treasures. I wish I had my camera with me, but I didn't and it was late (late for us is 8 or so). And as I was being so inspired by my tropical surroundings, I knew that my Daughter and I were in the right place right now doing the right thing. We miss our Friends in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, but our adventure here is filled with beautiful days at the beach and inspiration at every turn.

Five

Etsymetal says, "For this to be interpreted into a jewelry challenge and to spice it up a bit, I am grasping on to the 5 statement and asking you to incorporate the number 5 somehow, your interpretation of that."

For some examples, use 5 stones, patterns of 5, the actual number 5, what does 5 mean to you? Does 5 have any special significance to you?"

I decided to make 5 different oval and circle shapes for my necklace. It is a simple interpretation of Five.

Thanks for looking, Kathryn

Ring a Day

I am participating in a Ring A day challenge hosted by Nina Dinoff. It is a wonderful challenge to encourage discipline and creativity. The rings can be made out of anything. The only restriction is that I must make one ring every day for 365 days. To see the group on flickr, here is the link:http://www.flickr.com/groups/rad2010/ There are 182 people in the group at this point.
I am enjoying the creativity it has sparked in me. I am having fun with it and can't wait to see where the challenge leads me. I have so many ideas ready to be created. Above are my rings 10-18.

I love hearts and Valentines Day! I will be working hard at the bench today to create some new hearts. I love making hearts, because each one is one of a kind. Each one I create by hand and I never know how it is going to turn out until I am finished with it. I form the hearts with my hands and pliers in Sterling Silver wire. Please check my Etsy shop for new hearts coming soon! ~Kathryn
