Ring a Day and Ring a Week

"The Only Journey is the one within"~Rainer Maria Rilke
My creation
Ring a Day is over. I still don't know if I can express what RAD meant to me. It was a process for me of learning to be creative again. I was free to invent new rings. It was solely about your creativity! It was really wonderful (and challenging) to create a tiny piece of Art each day. And the support system was amazing! I feel lucky to have made so many new friends that supported me through the process and were along for the ride.

The Zen Garden Ring was my last ring #365. It was an idea I had in my mind for a while through the journey of RAD. I spent New Years Eve working on it.  It evolved as I created it (as most things do). I wanted to create a ring that meant something and expressed the journey that RAD was for many of us.

With the new year is a new challenge , Ring a Week. It will be a great place to focus on designs and spend more time on them.  And it will be so fun to watch all the creativity unfold with all the new people taking this creative challenge. Please stop by.

Some of my rings from this week

RAD 272/365 10.15.10

Here are a few of my rings from this week. I took another "break" from Ring a Day recently. It was a much needed time away from having to make a ring each day. It can be exhausting to think about making a ring EVERYDAY! But I am jumping back in and trying to catch up for me. I would like to end the year on track...well see how the holidays go!

I got this tiny little spool months ago with a shirt from Anthropology. It has been "looking" at me in my bathroom ever since screaming for me to make a ring out of it. I decided this morning I better make all the rings I have planned to make before the end of the year. I have thought all along I have plenty of time to make them all...and have procrastinated, been burnt out, ect. So....now I am going to try to get made all the rings I had wanted to make and have ideas to make. I haven't written down most of my ideas (some I have) which has probably been a mistake, so I hope to remember them and make them in the last 2 1/2 months. Isn't that crazy that we only have 2 months left. I remember when I joined I thought it was only for a month and THEN I found out it was for a year!!!!!!! Did you know that rings scared me before this? Before this project I had probably only made 10-15 rings or so ever....

The lotus flower ring is a design I have been working on...decided to cut it out and see how it looked. I like the shadow that it creates.

The star anise was a gift in my RAD pack from Victoria of Experimetal. I love how it photographed.

Thanks for looking and hope to "see" you back here soon.

Have a great weekend!

July Rings

July Rings

When I started making it, I planned to create the prongs on the outside. Then I realized inner prongs would work nice for this. I also love the tall swirl shell. This one was found at the beach at Pass-A-Grille also. July was a fun busy month...lots of days were spent at the beach. I am sad to know summer almost over...

Have a wonderful day! Off to the bench now! ~K
